Creating a Scottish
Sustainable Community

The Scottish Government launched the Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative in 2008 to encourage the creation of places, designed and built to last, where a high quality of life can be achieved.

The initiative is about creating places which are ambitious and inspiring, raising standards and developing skills in design architecture and sustainable construction. It is about taking the long term view.

Eleven proposals have been awarded recognition that they are working towards “Creating a Scottish Sustainable Community”.

Knockroon is one of those proposals to gain the award, underlining its green credentials and the high esteem in which it is held.

The report published by the Scottish Government in March 2011 “Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative – 2 years on” emphasises that Knockroon leads the way in the creation of sustainable communities in Scotland.
