Cumnock Highland Games
Now in its 6th year, Cumnock Highland Games is an annual community event held at Broomfield Playing Fields. The 2011 games will take place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August. Hope Homes Scotland will be the main sponsor this year.
Based on the traditional format of competitive Scottish sporting, dance and musical events, it attracts competitors from many nations and audiences of locals, family supporters and tourists.
The event is staged over two days and includes Caber Tossing, Hammer Throwing and Highland Dancing competitions. There is also an evening outdoor concert on the Saturday and open air entertainment throughout both days including ceilidh bands, battle re-enactments and fire dancing.

Cumnock Music Festival & Carnival
Another annual event in the Cumnock calendar is the Cumnock Music Festival & Carnival. The all-important dates this year are Friday 17 th and Saturday 18 th June.
Line ups for each evening in Cumnock Town Hall have been finalised with bands such as The Stones (Rolling Stones Tribute), Cold Sweat (Thin Lizzie tribute), Vendetta, The Marmalade, The Ivy League and Counselled Out. Tickets, available from Kenny’s Menswear, Glaisnock Shopping Centre, Cumnock, are priced at £12 for Friday evening and £15 for Saturday evening. Alternatively you can get a composite ticket for £24.
The carnival takes place on Saturday afternoon in Woodroad Park where many events are taking place including crowning of the carnival queen, fancy dress competition, parade, tug o’war, dancers, bands, kiddie rides, bird of prey demonstrations and much, much more.
